I completed my internship (4 + 2 pathway) at Learning Links from 2009 to 2011. It’s now eight years later and I am still working at Learning Links as a Registered Psychologist. During the two year program, I had a fabulous Principal Supervisor who provided wonderful clinical advice and support to myself. The Psychology Placement Co-ordinator was very helpful in providing a range of placement opportunities. These opportunities included counselling and assessing both children and adults, co-facilitating social skills groups and providing positive behaviour support to young children at Learning Links’ preschool and supported playgroups. It was great to work within a multidisciplinary setting and to meet other Provisional Psychologists during group supervision sessions. Overall, it was a very positive experience.”

“I completed the Provisional Psychology Internship Program at Learning Links in 2009. This was the first year that Learning Links began this program! When l came across this option to complete my 4 + 2 studies l was most eager to apply as l was keen to develop child and adolescent training as that was where my passion was and l was over the moon when my application was accepted. My entire journey to reach Registration was a smooth progression full of lots of learning and skill development. My supervisor was a wealth of knowledge and she supported and guided me every step of the way. I was provided with supervision and skill development in individual counselling, group programs such as social skill groups, assessments, the Counting for Life and Reading For Life programs and received professional development. After l completed my Internship and was Registered as a Psychologist l began working at the Benevolent Society and then in Private Practice working with children and adolescents in a multidisciplinary team. In 2018, l was fortunate enough to come back to Learning Links, this time as a part-time Registered Psychologist! I will be forever grateful for my experiences at Learning Links.”

“What initially attracted me to complete my 4+2 internship at Learning Links was their comprehensive registration program which was structured to help me complete all AHPRA requirements to gain full registration. I felt very supported by my supervisors and enjoyed the workshops and group supervision sessions throughout the year. It was also great to have a large team of other provisional psychologists and registered psychologists around me to share resources and provide support throughout the registration process. While on placement I received many opportunities to develop my skills in assessment and intervention. I was able to secure paid positions at Learning Links throughout my internship but also saw that for my peers who secured paid positions outside of Learning Links they could continue accessing supervision and work elsewhere. Now that I am fully registered, I’ve been lucky enough to secure a position as a Psychologist at Learning Links. My work week involves seeing individual counselling clients at a school and in the office. I also facilitate group programs such as Secret Agent Society, Lego Club, and Cool Kids. I administer assessments, provide training, give parent presentations and facilitate parent workshops on raising children and teens.”
